About This Project

Duration

1 day

Walking time

Approximately 6/7 hours

Difficulty

Easy/Medium

Description

The trekking day begins on the trail to the "Refugio Jakob", also called "El Tambo" at 1000 mt altitude. Here begins the slowly climb to the southeastern crest of Bella Vista Hill. The trail crosses an adult forest of Coihues trees. Soon we arrive at several panoramic points that give us the first views of Nahuel Huapi Lake. We continue climbing and we leave the evergreen forest of Coihues and Cypresses that are replaced by the famous Lengas (noto-fagus trees). We continue the ascent and soon the trees become bushes. We start to observe Moreno Lake as we gained height. We continue climbing the mountain and enter in High Andean terrain where we can appreciate the vastness of the Cordillera and the complex system of lakes that characterize this region. After crossing the edge, we reach the summit (1710 mts.), which is about forty minutes more hiking by rocky terrain. The summit offers a 360 degree view of the mountains, lakes and valleys around Bariloche. After lunch, resting and taking the summit picture we begin the descent following the same trail.
