Description
This 3-day trekking, which connects 2 of the most emblematic refuges of “Club Andino Bariloche”, has become a classic of “trekking lovers”. The imposing views, the beautiful lagoons, the endless green valleys, are all condiments that make this trekking an unforgettable experience. At the same time, the possibility of overnight nights during this trip in a different “mountain Hut” every night, gives to this experience an additional value, since the protagonist can live the hospitality and the warm atmosphere that is generated in these historical mountaineering places.
Day 1
Departing at half a morning from “Catedral, Ski Resort”, we will take a well sign traill who crosses a "burned forest" (the product of a fire that happened a few years ago). After a two-hour hike the trail goes into a valley called Van Titter and the trail runs through a tall forest of “lengas trees”. Then we cross the “Van Titter River” and ascent about 50 meters by the trail to get the “bivi refuge Piedritas". From this point begins the most physical part of this day, since the trail ascends 300 meters of elevation gain, in which the forest decreases its height, until arriving at the “Frey Hut” (1700 m), in the timberland area. We have rest and enjoy an excellent home made dinner at the Hut. Estimated time: 4 hours.
Day 2
After having breakfast in the Refugio, the walk begins bordering Toncek Lagoon, then we ascends 250 mts to the small “Schmol Lagoon”. From this point we keep ascending to the ridge of the “Cathedral mountain” passing by "the soccer field" (a small flat area). Once on the ridge begins the descent towards the “Rucaco Valley” by a loose rock terrain. After crossing the Rucaco 300 meters ascent, leaving behind the vegetation and reaching the edge of “Brecha Negra Mountain”. From this point begins the steep descent towards the “Refugio San Martin” next to “Jakob Lagoon” We have rest and enjoy an excellent home made dinner at the Hut. Estimated time: 6/7 hours
Day 3
We hike around the “San MartĂn refuge”, visiting to the “TĂ©mpanos Lagoon” in the morning without backpacks. At noon we start the descend to Bariloche by the “Jakob normal trail” through the “Casa de Piedra valley” until the end of the trail in "el Tambo". Estimated time: 6 hs.
