Tronador Hill Argentinian Peak

About This Project

3 Days

With its 3554 meters, three peaks and seven glaciers, the Cerro Tronador is not only the highest mountain in the Nahuel Huapi National Park, but also the most attractive and imposing. The Argentinean Peak (3110 meters) in the Cerro Tronador has become with the years one of the most classical ascensions in the lakes region. This three day hike has the spirit of an ascension to a high mountain peak: walking among huge crevasses and steep slopes of hard snow, to finally get to the panoramic views of the top. We include in our program a High Mountain Guide in charge of all the security, an assistant if necessary, necessary equipment, overnight sleep and half pension at the Otto Meiling Mountain Shelter (1950 meters).

Day 1

Departure from Bariloche to Pampa Linda (2.5 hours trip). Ascents to the Meiling Hut by the normal trail. (12 km, about 5 hours).

Day 2

We get up early and rope-up to start the climb to the summit, we cross the "Castaño Overa" glacier, and “ la vieja ridge" until the “deprecion area”. Then we reach the path and from there we climb the last meters by a hard snow ramp to the last part, “5 meters of easy climbing in mixed terrain”. Picture at the summit and return to the refuge. Dinner and overnight at the hut.

Day 3

Down by the normal trail to Pampa Linda. Return to Bariloche.
